Somatic Trauma Therapy Training with Babette Rothschild

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is an indicator that the body and mind have not yet recognised that a traumatic incident is over. As a result, the body’s nervous system responds by continuously mobilising the muscles and other body systems for defence (fight/flight) and/or numbing (freeze). Known risks with traumatised clients – dissociation, flashbacks, abreaction and retraumatisation – are, in part, the result of hyperarousal in the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
Babette Rothschild has developed Somatic Trauma Therapy as an approach for making psychotherapy and counselling with traumatised clients safer and more assured of success. It uses many skills and techniques from body psychotherapy, generally without touching clients, and is suitable for all counsellors and psychotherapists to learn.

Babette will teach a 12-day training course in Somatic Trauma Therapy starting in October 2021. This course is designed for clinicians who want to learn to use Somatic Trauma Therapy and pays great attention to the applicability of skills and techniques. The course takes place in 3 blocks of 4 days in October 2021, May 2022, and October 2022. Future courses are planned but dates have not been set yet.

Babette will also teach a weekend (Friday to Sunday afternoon) workshop in October 2021 to introduce her approach and offer basic rules for working with trauma to all participants. The workshop is called ‘Making Trauma Therapy Safer’. Booking is now open.

All of these are excellent CPD opportunities for all psychotherapists, counsellors and other mental health professionals.

All events take place as live online courses.

You can now download or watch online Babette Rothschild teaching ‘Making Trauma Therapy Safer’ on October 17-18 2015 in London by going to our Shop.
